gallery HIRE

Located in the vibrant and diverse area of the Devonshire Ward, VOLT seeks to provide a platform for contemporary art and creative community projects in Eastbourne. We have expanded the gallery to create a flexible space suitable for an innovative exhibition programme. Our core values are:

  • To support artists across the visual, crafts and performance spectrum

  • To promote socially-engaged creative practice

  • To create opportunities for community engagement

We are keen to receive proposals which create opportunities for artists who might otherwise be under represented, and which present challenging ideas.  We also encourage proposals that engage with local or specific communities. Links with the surrounding area of the Devonshire Ward are welcomed.

Hire proposals are reviewed regularly by the programming team consisting of Devonshire Collective staff and board members, who meet on a monthly basis. We are committed to exhibitions and activities which promote equality and inclusivity and these aims will be reflected in our hired space programme.

Hire projects will run for 2-4 weeks, costing from £200 a week depending on the complexity of the project and whether the basement space is needed in addition to the main ground floor gallery space.

Support from VOLT will consist of:

  • Curatorial assistance in planning your exhibition to ensure a professional and cohesive presentation

  • Marketing support including inclusion on our website, social media posts and press release copy. Please note that due to GDPR regulations we are unable to share our mailing list, however we are happy to advise you on relevant arts and local listing opportunities

  • Invigilation during standard exhibition opening hours with COVID-19 measures in place

  • Installation and de-installation support

(Technical support can be provided at an additional cost)
